4. 4 12 801 585 Saab 9-3, Saab 9-5 Saab 9-3 (9400) M98-03 Saab 9-3 has provision for mobile telephone instal- lation on two levels: Provision for mobile phone (Tel 0) and Handsfree provision (Tel 1). The adapter harness works in both cases. 1 Remove the glove box. 2 Remove the side panel (on passenger side). 3 Cut off the cable tie that secures the 18-pin con- nector for mobile phone provision. 4 Connect the adapter harness to the 18-pin con- nector. 5 Remove the side panel cover and guide through the adapter harness. 6 Fit the connector securely with cable tie in exist- ing hole in the side panel to prevent rattling. Note Cars with handsfree provision, Tel 1: Before proceeding, check with the telephone's manufac- turer whether the telephone uses high or low lev- el for the microphone output. D930A167 1 2 5 4 6

For correct con- nection, see the table below (information applies to the car's connector) and compare the func- tions in the different connections with the rele- vant telephone wiring diagram. Pin location in the car's connector 9 Connect the negative battery cable. 10 Check that the telephone works. 11 Adjust the time and date. 12 Synchronise remote control code by inserting the key into the ignition. 13 Activate window lift pinch protection function by operating the side windows up and down twice. An audible confirmation will sound when activa- tion is complete. The adapter harness works in both cases. 1 Saab Audio System: Press the special tools supplied with the radio into the designated holes. Press until the tools engage, a click should be heard, then pull out the radio with the tools. Non-Saab Audio System: Remove the storage compartment above the radio. Remove the radio. 2 Remove the ACC or MCC panel as appropriate. 3 Locate the connectors near the fan cowling (they are wound with anti-rattle tape), remove the tape and connect the adapter harness to the telephone connector. Wind the tape around the remaining connectors. 4 Draw the adapter harness down to the tele- phone holder. Note Cars with handsfree provision, Tel 1 : Before proceeding, check with the telephone's manufac- turer whether the telephone uses high or low lev- el for the microphone output. E930A182 1 2 4 3

For correct con- nection, see the table below for connections in the car's connector, as well as each telephone's wiring diagram. Compare the functions in the different connections. Pin location in the car's connector 8 Remove the overhead console and use the table below to check that the car microphone is connected in accordance with telephone manu- facturer specifications regarding low/high sig- nal. If needed, disconnect the contact housing for the microphone and move the cable connector with pins to the correct place in the housing, see the table below.
